About Solomon

As a successful entrepreneur, business consultant, speaker and author, Solomon Wilkins has already defied the odds:
- He grew up on welfare in a single parent household!
- Oakland, California, the community he grew up in had, and still has some of the highest crime rates in the country!
- His father was killed in a drive by shooting whe he was nine years old!
- In High School, he was labeled with a learning disability!
But Solomon refused to be another "statistic." He excelled athletically, but struggled academically. As mentioned before, in high school he was labeled with a learning disability and he often found himself spending extra hours after school studying with his teachers just to maintain a 2.0 grade point average. As a senior, Solomon was so intimidated by the S.A.T., that he just skipped it all together and went to community college. To say Solomon felt inadequate would be an understatement.
Growing up as an athlete allowed Solomon to develop his leadership skills and his team first attitude at an early age. After being named captain of his high school and community college basketball teams, Solomon was rewarded with a scholarship to Humboldt State University. Solomon's eagerness to distinguish himself and his hunger to lead is helping him help others achieve greatness.
Solomon began leading young people when he was 14 years old and he has continued on that path ever since. The real fun began when he graduated from college and took a job as Teen Director with Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco. His primary focus was to collaborate with various youth providers and research solutions to problems that were prevalent in the teen community. He was also responsible for facilitating career and leadership workshops and his programs were so successful that he was able to double program participation.
Solomon then decided that he wanted to continue his career as a basketball player where he played professional basketball for three years. One year in the American Basketball Association (ABA), and two years in the International Basketball League (IBL), where he was a two time all-star and ranked as the 16th best minor league basketball player in the United States.
Growing up, Solomon always dreamed of wearing a suit and tie to work every day. So with that said, and no experience to boot, Solomon decided to try his hand at Corporate America. Solomon always DREAMS BIG, so he decided to apply for Cintas, a fortune 500 company worth an estimated 3.8 billion. Solomon was handpicked by upper level Management to seek out and acquire new business for the fastest-growing business division in the company. Solomon consistently met and exceeded his monthly goals which led to him being asked to lead multiple sales and training meetings.
When Solomon isn't traveling and speaking, he is the Chairperson for the ACT-SO program (www.naacp.org/youth/act-so) of the Oakland Chapter of the NAACP, and he serves as the Director of the Youth & Young Adult Ministry at his church (www.revelationcf.org) where he leads a staff of 6 and a ministry of 30 youth between the ages of 12-18.
In 2008, Solomon formed Solomon Wilkins International, LLC., and the M.V.P Leadership Academy. Combined, Solomon's companies provides books, motivational dvd's and cd's, workshops and leadership conferences, all aimed at colleges, youth groups, teens, organizations and associations.
